Diamond Lapping Compounds DIAMOND PASTES
FOR GRINDING, LAPPING AND SUPER-FINISHING Diamond pastes are supplied in practical plastic syringes containing 5 grams each. The syringes permit small accurate dosages. A protective cap prevents dust and other impurities from contaminating the contents. Diamond pastes are oil and alcohol soluble. Special diluents are not required any commercial light oil will suffice. Should the lapping process get too dry and the cutting action of the diamond grains diminish, then and only then should small amounts of light oil should be used to keep the diamond grains in optimal cutting condition. The binding agents within the Diamond pastes are colour coded so that tools already carrying the pastes can easily be identified by grain size, thus avoiding contamination of one grade of paste with another. Diamond pastes can be applied economically for ultrafine processing of sapphire, ruby, ceramics, tungsten carbide, stellite, all steels, silicon, quartz and many other hard materials. Diamond pastes are especially suited for lapping and polishing of plastic moulds, hobs, tablet punches, press tools, TC-dies, balls, rolls, tool tips, bearings, bores, gauges, pivots, flat lapping of seals, seats, semiconductor wafers, laser rods, metallurgical and geological specimens, magnetic tape heads, computer memory discs, general production components and numerous other applications.
THE CONCENTRATION OF OUR DIAMOND COMPOUNDS IS VERY HIGH AVAILABILITY:- PLASTIC SYRINGES CONTAINING 5 GRAMS OF PASTE.
WE SUGGEST THE FOLLOWING LAPPING TOOL MATERIALS BE USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH OUR DIAMOND PASTES. GRADE GENERAL PURPOSES, 60MU - 12MU LAPPING OF PLASTIC MOULDS, DIES, ETC.
GRADE PRE -POLISHING :- 9MU - 6MU PERSPEX, PRESSED WOOD, LAMINATED WOOD, HARD WOOD.
GRADE SUPER FINISHING 3MU - 1/4MU SOFT WOOD, FELT PAPER AND COTTON WOOL.
A FEW TIPS ON THE CORRECT APPLICATION OF DIAMOND PASTES.
SCRUPULOUS CLEANING OF THE WORK PIECE BEFORE CHANGING FROM ONE GRADE OF PASTE TO ANOTHER IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE. WE RECOMMEND THE USE OF COTTON WOOL WITH TRI, TETRA, BENZENE OR SIMILAR SOLVENTS FOR CLEANING. IT IS IMPORTANT TO IMPREGNATE THE LAPPING TOOL PROPERLY: DIAMOND PASTE SHOULD BE APPLIED IN MINIMAL QUANTITIES AND DISTRIBUTED EVENLY. WHEN LAPPING BEGINS, THE DIAMOND GRAINS EMBED THEMSELVES EVENLY IN THE TOOL. LIGHT OIL SHOULD BE APPLIED ONLY WHEN THE LAPPING PROCESS BECOMES TOO DRY. PROPER IMPREGNATION OF THE LAPPING TOOL WILL ASSURE ITS RE-USE SEVERAL TIMES OVER, THUS GUARANTEEING THE GREATEST ECONOMY.
LAPPING TOOLS SHOULD ALWAYS BE KEPT SORTED BY GRAIN SIZE AND KEPT FREE FROM DUST.
